I was initially drawn in by the title. However, the story itself is what attracts me most. As its description says, ‘a young hopeful Knight reports for duty at the King’s court. Little does he know that slaying dragons might not be his biggest challenge.’ It uses the tale of slaying a dragon to depict the reality of many contemporary freelancers.Freelancers will always have demanding clients. They always have to handle all sorts of difficult questions with a smile, revising various details along the way. In the end, they might find that it’s not as good as the original version. This is very realistic, but it’s told through a cartoon story, which is quite interesting. Many freelancers have also commented on the film, expressing their current situation and feelings. I really like how this lighthearted and charming perspective uses storytelling to present a social problem or current situation.

  • Storyboard

I drew a storyboard based on a one-minute segment from Incredibles 2.

The above is a storyboard without camera movement. It’s more like a dynamic story told frame by frame in a comic book. Then, based on the existing story, we continued to draw the subsequent animation using cinematic language. However, I misunderstood what I meant. I thought we needed to create the subsequent story ourselves, so the following storyboard content is based on my personal imagination. I modified the original animation plot, added cinematic language, and drew the current storyboard.

This is all my storyboard content. To be honest, I don’t have a complete grasp of how camera work works. But I know for sure that clear storyboards provide better direction for production. So good storyboards really do significantly reduce time costs.

  • 5+5 Emotions through Camera (storyboard)

We used five shots, each lasting five seconds. Without dialogue or facial expressions, we used only cinematic language to tell the story of a person in a bar.

The first story I want to tell is about a person who was harmed by poison in their drink.

The second story aims to depict people quietly waiting in a bar until the door is opened.

  • 5+5 Emotions through Camera (maya)

We were divided into groups to present each other’s storyboards. Based on the storyboards, we completed the final presentation. The storyboard depicts a person who panics when receiving a phone call; he is extremely nervous about the upcoming call.
